Beth Feltham teaches Philosophy and Critical Thinking at the Isle of Wight College. Having undertaken a Bachelor Degree in Religious Studies and a Masters degree in Religion, Science and Ethics specializing in Meta-Ethics at the University of Wales, Lampeter and Leiden University in Holland she then went on to train as a teacher with Oxford University. I currently teach Physics and Biology at the F6rm, I am originally from Coventry in the West Midlands and studied Sports and Materials Science at The University of Birmingham. Following this I studied for Masters degree in Materials Engineering and published my thesis after completion of the course. Dr. Carl Watts teaches Modern History, Government and Politics, and Critical Thinking at the Isle of Wight College. He completed his doctoral thesis on the Rhodesian Crisis at the University of Birmingham, where he taught Modern History and War Studies. He has held visiting positions at several universities in the American Midwest, and was a Research Fellow in the Centre for International Studies at the London School of Economics. Continue reading…

Dan Boatright teaches Geology, Archaeology and Ancient History at the Isle of Wight College. Having undertaken a Bachelors Degree in Egyptian Archaeology and a Masters degree in Archaeology at the University of Liverpool he embarked on several archaeological excavations training to be an archaeological geophysicist and surveyor, and is still known to walk around fields and deserts with a magnetometer when the need arises. Georgina Aitken studied Chemistry at Sussex Univeristy. This was followed by a doctorate in the ‘Reactivity of Gas Phase Transition Metal Complexes’. Guy has a degree in Law from Oxford University, and he has been involved for a number of years with the examining board AQA, both as an A Level Law examiner and as a contributor to their authorised A Level Law text book. Guy has fifteen years’ experience as a lecturer in Law, and teaches students both at A Level and at undergraduate level in university.

Hafsa teaches geography and is the Environmental Officer at the Isle of Wight College. She completed her Masters degree in geographical sciences, with a focus on hydrology, glaciology and environmental change, at the University of Bristol in 2007.

With a BA in Modern languages and European Studies, he has lived and worked abroad for several years combining his love of travel and discovering new cultures. Hannah Ray trained in fine art at St Matins College, London, and Bath Spa University. Returning to the Isle of Wight after her studies she continued to practise as an artist selling her work and undertaking varied commission work along with public murals. Teacher of sociology and psychology Hayley is married with two children, Herbie and Wynn. She used to sail the world with her husband on yacht deliveries which has given her privileged access to places that can only be reached by sea (no airports etc). She has lived on land for seven years and has moved to the Isle of Wight from Devon where she taught sociology and psychology for four years. Jim did an Engineering degree followed by a PhD in Applied Maths (Fluid Mechanics). Prior to taking up a teaching role he had extensive experience both in the UK and abroad in various fields, including IT and advertising. He is also the Section Leader for Engineering at the Isle of Wight College.

I hope to bring to the students not only success but a sense of belief and positivity in their own abilities. Growing up in a quiet picturesque suburb south east of Melbourne, Australia, I know how easy it is to stay in one place when you feel secure. Kat teaches Environmental Studies and Geology at F6rm. After a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Science at the University of Sheffield, Kat travelled in Africa for a couple of years before returning to the Isle of Wight to work for the Environment Agency. This work took her to the best parts of the Island from the scrapyards to the landfill sites with the occasional visit to the rivers, streams and farmyards. Continue reading…

Paul studied at Glasgow University and has BSc Hons degrees in Computing and Spanish. He joined The Isle of Wight College about 5 years ago after a background in the satellite industry. Paul is currently Section Leader in the Computing Department and will teach A Level Computing. Paul is also a teaching staff Governor.

Richard grew up on the Island and went to Ventnor Middle and Medina High Schools. After gaining a BSc in Physics from Sheffield University he took an MSc in Non Destructive Testing Of Materials at Brunel. He then worked in the manufacturing industry for six years as a purchasing manager, completing a graduate diploma in purchasing and supply chain management. I was born in Surrey, but first came to the Island in a basket on a boat! Most of my life has been spent in London; I went to University College London to read English, and much later did a Master’s part-time at Nottingham.
