Tina Griffith

I was born in Surrey, but first came to the Island in a basket on a boat! Most of my life has been spent in London; I went to University College London to read English, and much later did a Master’s part-time at Nottingham. In between, I have brought up six children and taught in a variety of places from a women’s university in Saudi Arabia to a Pupil Referral Unit in West London, as well as at Carisbrooke. Most of my working life, however, has been at another Beacon sixth-form college, in London, and I am looking forward to sharing the very high standards that I worked to there, with Island students.
In my free time I am a keen sailor, both in my dinghy and in other people’s Folkboats. I read a great deal, and enjoy theatre and art galleries in the city, as well as keeping fit on the Island by cycling, walking and yoga.
