Simon Howard

Simon is teacher of Biology at F6rm. He’s been fascinated by how living things work since childhood. After A-levels, a degree in Biochemistry at St. Andrews was his next step into the life sciences, followed by a Master’s in Clinical Biochemistry. Before training as a teacher at Cambridge, Simon worked as a Biochemist in London hospitals, testing blood and other bodily fluids for signs of disease.
Simon has taught Biology in international schools and a Sixth Form in Finland, where he lived for 13 years until coming to the Isle of Wight. He really enjoys Biology for its breadth, from the molecular to the macroscopic. The many links between Biology and other subject areas—both other sciences and the humanities—also make it very interesting.
Simon’s time outside College is mostly spent having fun and games with his two small children and Finnish wife. Whenever he gets the chance he likes to read books on theological topics; he also has a Master’s in Theology. To keep fit, Simon tries to move as fast and as far as possible on either two legs or two wheels.
