Parents Information

We aim to make sure that F6rm students achieve their full potential. To achieve this we need the support of parents and guardians.
Exam Results
As spring emerges, so too do the results for the winter examination session! These will be available for your son/daughter to collect from F6rm on Thursday March 8th. Students must bring their college ID card in order to obtain results and all students have been notified that results can be collected at the following times:
- 10am-12pm: F6rm Reception
- 12pm-3pm: Exams Office
After 3pm, any results not already collected will be sent home by first class post.
In the unfortunate event that your child is disappointed with an examination grade and wishes to improve upon this in the summer, students will need to do the following:
- Take a RESIT FORM from the front desk, for each examination that you wish to re-sit.
- Discuss your results with your subject teacher/s and your personal tutor. You will need both of their signatures on the form to support your application to re-sit.
- Fill out the form/s completely and obtain the necessary signatures. Incomplete forms will not be accepted.
- Hand in completed forms by 4pm on Friday March 9th. Forms handed in after this date will not be accepted.
You will need to act swiftly if you wish to be re-entered for examinations in the summer. It is very important however, that you discuss your examination results with your teacher/s and your family and that you discuss your exam load for the summer with your personal tutor before submitting your form/s.
It is extremely important that students submit their intent to re-sit by 4pm on Friday March 9th.
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Progress Review Evenings
The review evening is an opportunity for you to come in and meet your son/daughter’s tutor and find out about their progress. You will receive an academic written report before the evening written by your son/daughter’s personal tutor and other staff who teach them, along with an invite to the review evening.
It is vital you make every effort to attend to ensure your child has continued motivation and so you are alerted to any problems or difficulties your child may be experiencing.
Working Towards Employability
At The F6rm we want our students to leave F6rm both skilled and ready for the workplace or Higher Education. For this reason every student has an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) designed to look at the student’s overall goals, and how they need to develop their skills in order to reach these goals.
The ILP forms part of the tutorial process, which also includes “Milestones”. Milestones have been designed to equip students with the skills that employers expect employees to have. Examples of these Milestones would be the student creating for themselves a full CV and job application letter, or attending a money management session.
We also encourage students to find part time work in order to prepare them for full time employment at the end of the course. We ask that parents and guardians do the same, as it is an excellent way for students to gain experience of the real working world.
On site we have access to Connexions and Careers Advisers on site who operate a drop in service. Students also have full access to the Internet and Press and we would encourage them to use these facilities to gain an understanding of working opportunities.
Enrichment
As well as academic study we encourage students to take part in activities that will help them develop their social and personal skills. We run a number of enrichment activities through the year, which could be anything from attending the London Boat Show to a ‘learning to swim’ taster session.
All the student has to do to take part is speak to their tutor who will then contact the Activities Officer, who will do the rest. It couldn’t be easier!
