A Win for Green Beacon

04 Feb
youngEnterprise

One of the two F6RM teams entered in the Young Enterprise competition has won the first round of the island competition. Competitors were required to submit a business plan for their business idea and we are delighted that Green Beacon’s was judged to be the best. Hannah Bowkis, Managing Director of Green Beacon and a Business Studies A level student in the F6RM, led the team to produce an outstanding business plan.

The teams are participating in the nationally run enterprise competition as part of their enrichment programme at the F6RM. Each team must set up and run a real business during the year long competition. Together with their volunteer business advisor, retired local businessman Steve Knight, the group cannot be accused of a lack of persistence as they have attempted to get no less than five different business ideas off the ground.

The team would like to thank Steve Knight for his terrific input. Steve could be found shivering behind the Young Enterprise stall with members of the team at the Sunday morning car boot sales in Newport during the past winter months as they attempted to raise funds for their various enterprises. Whether providing hot drinks or helpful business advice he has been an enormous support to the team.

Picture shows: (L to R) Liam Webb, Patrick Gooden, Jack Skinner, Steve Knight (Business Adviser), Hannah Bowkis, Shima Khoshkbari, Jack Burchmore, Victoria Massey, Chloe Keller. Also Nadine Wager (not present).
