Engineering is all about practical problem-solving and creativity. Explore how new techniques and scientific advances are used to improve the way that products work and how to create new products and services. You will understand engineering principles and their applications and gain skills and knowledge of the industry and the many routes available into careers and education.
Course Content
You will investigate the role of a professional engineering responsible for the design or manufacture of an engineered product or service. You will produce a design solution to a client brief, planning the project and developing a prototype. You will study the engineering environment including laws, regulations and codes of practice to ensure that developments are safe. The course is a mixture of assignments, tests, set assignments, projects and case studies assessed both internally and externally.
What Will I Learn?
Throughout this course you will develop a range of vocational skills that will be useful to you either for higher-level study or in work and training.
Entry Requirements
We would normally require candidates to have the standard sixth form entry requirements.
Career Opportunities
Many engineering students progress to further study some companies offer apprenticeships which can lead to the opportunity to study up to HNC, HND or degree level. Graduates can consider production engineering, design, development and research, sales and marketing or management positions.
