Course Content
You will study a range of topics including how markets operate, supply and demand, market failure and national economic issues such as growth, inflation and unemployment. You will look at real life world events and the economic impact that they are having. If you enjoy following current affairs and discussing your reaction and opinions this subject is for you. The recent downturn in the global economy makes it a particularly interesting time to study this subject.
Career Opportunities
Economics is possibly the most versatile single A Level and is highly regarded by universities. A qualification in Economics has widespread application and the average earnings of an Economics graduate six months after graduating are about £1,500 more than the average for all graduates? Only some engineering and medical graduates earn more.
Entry Requirements
We would normally require candidates to have the standard sixth form entry requirements, including GCSE English and Mathematics both at grade B or above. An interest in following national and international current affairs is of vital importance to your success in and enjoyment of this subject.
